Oudtshoorn
Oudtshoorn is a serene and tranquil area of flatlands known as the ostrich capital of the world. It’s home to the world’s largest ostrich population and there are a number of specialised ostrich breeding farms you can visit such as the Safari Show Farm and the Highgate Ostrich Show Farm. Here you can learn more about the spectacular history of Oudtshoorn and pick up hand-painted, carved ostrich eggs and ostrich feathers.

Cango Caves
Marvel at the gigantic stalactites and stalagmites of the exquisite Cango Caves, where early humans lived in the middle and later stone ages. The awe-inspiring caves were discovered in 1780 and contain preserved stone artefacts and other cultural materials. Visitors can tour the extensive system of tunnels and chambers, which cover over four kilometres, or opt to do some crawling through the caves.

Cango Wildlife Ranch
Just outside of Oudtshoorn, the Cango Wildlife Ranch is the oldest and largest cheetah contact centre in the world. The ranch provides visitors with the chance to view and touch a variety of wild animals, including Africa’s spotted cheetah, snakes and the king of the jungle – the lion.

Knysna
Best known as the place to enjoy oysters and champagne, Knysna is the heart of the Garden Route. It is a place of dazzling views, where you can experience indigenous forests, mountains and the tranquil lagoon.
